Teaching English online from the comfort of your home has become an excellent way to make a part-time income and for many it is a full-time job. DADA (once called DADAABC) is one of the top companies that teachers can utilize to make money in this new and exciting field.
I have already blogged exclusively about VIP Kid on this website but in this post, I will review DADA and what it could mean for you.

What is DADA? Is it a scam?
DADA, much like VIP Kid, is an English tutoring platform that caters to Chinese students between the ages of 4 and 12. It offers students English lessons with an experience teacher.
It works off a one-to-one, student to teacher, ratio. The lessons are taught through a virtual classroom that utilizes video, chat, and web-based lessons.
The company was founded in China in 2013. DADA is based out of Shanghai, China. The pay is relatively good for the industry and teachers enjoy a flexible work schedule.
As to the question whether it is a scam or not, this is a common question because so many scams exist on the internet. I am happy to report that DADA is a legitimate company where teachers can make a reliable income.
Currently, DADA serves over 50,000 students in China and has students in other parts of the world as well.
They have partnered with several reliable educational institutions such Oxford University Press and Pearson Education to help formulate the curriculum they use for their students.
Many people have already started teaching for DADA and are making a reliable income from the comfort of their home.
DADA is a legit work from home opportunity
Teachers that are experienced in English teach students English in half hour sessions.
The teacher works from home and the student is being tutored from their home or wherever they have a reliable internet connection. The people who teach the lessons don’t have to be experience teachers but must be proficient in English.
If you are interested in working for DADA, you must be proficient in English, have a computer, webcam, headset with a mic, and have a reliable internet connection. DADA encourages its teachers to utilize props for teaching lessons.
Hiring Process and Pay
The hiring process is relatively simple:
First, complete the online application
Next, prepare for and do an online interview with DADA
Next, you must complete some training
Finally, teach some mock lessons.
If you complete each step, you are hired and can start making money from the comfort of your home.
The application consists of providing your name, date of birth, gender, uploading a photo, information regarding any degrees you may hold, residence information, experience with English, your time zone, other occupations you may have or had, teaching certificate information, Chinese language competency if any (not required), an introduction video (about 30 seconds), and work availability.
DADA pays its teachers between $15 to $25 per hour. The pay is calculated hourly and is dependent on your experience and interview.
If you decide to interview with DADA, you need to be well-prepared and make sure that you give a great interview to get a higher pay rate. Pay raises are only offered on a 12-month basis.
DADA does pay for stand bye time (which makes them unique in the industry). This means if you are scheduled to work 2 hours, but you have a 30-minute opening, you still get paid.
DADA pays out on the 15th of each month. The teachers are independent contractors, so the teacher is responsible for taxes.
Bonus pay is offered for a variety of things. You can be paid to refer other teachers as well. A referral bonus of $130 is offered if you refer a successful teacher to DADA.
Tips for Getting Hired
- Over prepare for the interview- it determines if you get the job and how much you’re starting pay rate will be.
- Prepare to negotiate a higher rate
- Utilize a referring teacher to help you prepare. Email me if you need one.
- Learn about TPR 9total physical response) and how to use props.

- You don’t need to spend much money on resources to teach.
- There is a very good teacher referral program.
- There are some minimum educational requirements.
