Overview of fitbod

Fitbod is fitness app that prepares and provides workout plans based on a person’s needs, abilities, goals, experience level, desired workout duration, and available workout equipment.

It uses AI (artificial intelligence) – learning to develop customized exercises. After a few weeks of using the app, fitbod will learn your training ability, and adjust your workouts to meet your goals.

Currently, the app is only available for iOS and Android products.

Fitbod uses a variety of algorithms based on data such as your body type, weight, BMI, and workout history to adjust the customized workout plan as you continue to use the app.

The wonderful aspect of fitbod is that it can be used anywhere, and you do not need gym equipment to get a quality workout.

It is easy to use and follow and great for beginners and people who may not be accustomed to working out or exercising on a regular basis.

How it works:

To get started with fitbod is easy:

You can download the fitbod app through your app store OR click on this link to try it out and get your first 3 workouts for free (body weight workouts are free, ONLY the workouts requiring equipment count against the 3 free workouts)

You input data about you (Weight, Height, Gender, and Age)

You select which muscle groups you want to focus on to customize your workout or have the app create a workout from scratch. There are number of different workout styles that you can choose from (push, pull, upper body, lower, or full body)

Next, you let the app know what gym equipment is available to you (if you don’t have any gym equipment, the app will create a body weight workout for you, no equipment is needed which can be great for traveling).

Select your fitness goals: general fitness, strength training, muscle tone, bodybuilding, power lifting, or Olympic weightlifting

You will choose your level of strength: beginner, intermediate, or advanced

Finally, you choose how much cardio that you want in your workouts

Customized Workouts

Unlike most workout plans that are fixed, fitbod designs a real-time unique workout plan.

Workouts are based on the data you input and the exercise recommendations from the app you complete.

The data is used to make exercise recommendations formulated to help you reach your fitness goals. As you progress towards your goal, the exercise routines are adjusted.

Fitbod utilizes the Brzycki Formula and Prilepin Formula to update the recommendations as you complete suggested workouts. This science behind the app is explained here.

Fitbod connects with health apps as well as an smart watches to utilize up to date information. It can send notifications on proper rest periods, recent workouts, and upcoming workouts.

Fitbod considers muscle fatigue as it makes exercise recommendations and selects workouts that are appropriate, varied, and motivating.

Pros vs Cons

  • Workouts are individualized and tailored to you
  • Workouts are adjusted to meet fitness goals
  • Easy to use and follow
  • Workouts are balanced for proper rest of muscle groups
  • Workouts are varied to allow for maximum strength and optimize gains
  • Very good for beginners
  • Acts as a personal trainer

  • It may not be the best fit for experienced lifters
  • It uses up a great deal of battery power

Who is fitbod for?

Fitbod is for smartphone users that are interested in a customized workout that can be done anywhere with a variety of or no gym equipment.

It is designed to help anyone at any level of exercise experience from beginner to Olympic weightlifter. It is a very good app for beginners.

How much is fitbod?

Fitbod is free to try. Currently, body-weight exercises are free, and you can try out 3 workouts if you are using gym equipment.

If you like the app, you can open all functions and get full access with an app subscription.

The subscription fee is $9.99 per month or you can pay for a 1-year subscription for $59.99 (50% discount).

My Final Word on this app….

This is a very good app to get a customized workout every day.

It is the closest thing that you can get to a personal trainer without paying for a personal trainer. I have used it successfully to lose weight and gain muscle.

It is great because it can be used at home or if you are traveling. It helps to have some gym equipment, but it is not necessary.

The workouts are always unique, and adjustments are made as you utilize the workouts. The app is well-designed and fully functioned for any fitness need.

The AI based adjustment to your workouts makes it an excellent app. The app makes it easy to overcome plateaus and stay motivated. It is easy to use, and the workouts are varied to keep the exercise plan from getting dull.

Like many people, I have struggled at times to find a good exercise program to keep me motivated and move towards my fitness goals. This app is a great solution to that problem. Using this app is convenient and effective for meeting fitness goals.

  1. Hey; Fitbod has made it easy to exercise, eh? I like it! No packing away of equipment after a workout. And you can workout anytime anywhere. And the price is sure affordable. It could not be for less!

  2. Very well done. You cover all the aspect of the app including the pros and cons of the app. You included your rating, pricing and all the feature and benefits.

I like the graphics as well

  3. great work you did on reviewing the Fitbod application for fitness, a lot of people out there really loves to reduced their sizes but engaging in exercises to achieve their aims can be quite demanding, I believe such an app will go a long way to easing them of such exercise…..awesome review that I would love to share for others to also benefit from..

  4. No, I don’t work for the company but I use the app and I really enjoy it. I know there are similar apps for Android so that is what I am referring to. The prices are US prices.

  5. Hi,

Great review there on fitbod. Thats the way technology is headed, replacing human expert with AI. One advantage of AI is that it learns from different places and uploads all that information to the cloud, making it accessible to the rest. The danger with it is that since there is now physical supervisor especially for newbies, in case of an injury, the owner might not be able to get help, which can be dangerous, or maybe it has a way of monitoring that.

Does it just give you just the workout to follow or it does monitor using devices like camera or heart beat rate monitor and so on? Maybe they should add that one too.

Some times when working as a team create an environment for social interaction and motivation which is not available in fitbod. Maybe this is one general disadvantage of AI, or maybe there are precautions to observe.

However as you said it can save on expert cost and some gym item, which is great. Also this app is likely to have so many workout alternatives for same muscles than a single human expert would.

You as well consider in future in reviewing its pros and cons against other similar apps in the market for comparison purposes. Examples are HeavySet, Strong, Stacked (iOS) e.t.c

    Best wishes.

  6. Don’t you believe is fear price ?

This APP looks very interesting, after  a coup of weeks you can feel a personal trainer working hard with you , it doesn’t matter your level exercise

Even is free for try, and after that, the price is very accessible, it reflex cost benefit for consumer

Don’t you believe is fear price ?

    Well done

  7. Hey over there, I have actually heard about this insightful and informative article on fitbod, Indeed working out is good and has advantages to the body, anyways I  would like to describe fitbod as a result oriented programs, it’s indeed a good appication for utilizing ones iPhone (or Apple device) to get a customized workout every day. I really love this app.

    well done.

  8. Hey nice review you have about fitbod there, your thoughts are indeed invaluable. I have heard little about fitbod from a friend, having stumbled into this article, I now have a better perspective of its framework. Indeed it is an app I need at this moment to have an excellent workout daily, since gymnasium has been on closure since the outbreak of Covid 19

  9. Thanks for this Fitbod review, This looks like a really handy app for not just creating a workout routine but being able to exercise while on the go when away from home. I am happy to see that it is for iOS because that is what I have. I have a couple of questions.

From what I was able to get from your great explanation of the app and the video you provided, you mention that Fitbod will create a workout routine for you even if you have no equipment. How is that possible? Does Fitbod substitute weighted household items for use?

Also, when you input you weight and other information, will the app calculate my BMI? That is something I do not know about myself and would have to calculate it. I do like the price and convenience of the app. Thank you for sharing and answering my questions.

    • The no equipment workout is a body weight workout. I do one everyday, it is very cool. You could use household items, I have done that but it isn’t needed. I am not sure about the BMI part, I use a different app for that typr of stuff.
